Losergeek.org.CO, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo or Jokowi attended the world’s largest Angklung ensemble held at the Main Stadium of Gelora Bung Karno, Central Jakarta on Saturday evening, August 5, 2023. Donning brown batik, the President was accompanied by Vice President Ma’ruf Amin.
Based on Tempo’s monitoring, attending the event included several ministers from the Onward Indonesia Cabinet, namely Communication and Informatics Minister Budi Arie, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang, Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, Transportation Minister Budi Karya, and Education Minister Nadiem Makarim.
Other ministers include ATR/BPN Minister Hadi Tjahjanto, Cooperatives Minister Teten Masduki, SOEs Minister Erick Thohir, Energy Minister Arifin Tasrif, Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo, PAN-RB Minister Azwar Anas, and even TNI Commander Laksamana Yudo Margono along with the chief of staffs and National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit.
15,000 People Playing Angklung Musical Instrument
At the event, 15,000 people played the musical instrument made of bamboo guided by Saung Angklung Mang Udjo. The songs that were played included national songs, such as ‘Berkibarlah Benderaku’, and international songs, such as ‘Wind of Changes’.
This event is one of the side events of the celebration of Indonesia’s 78th Independence Day anniversary. Oase KIM (Indonesia Maju Cabinet) is the initiator of the event and said that it is purposed to increase people’s love for Indonesian culture which is represented through the world’s largest angklung ensemble.
The Angklung performance also broke the Guinness World of Records (GWR).
